I was born in the Netherlands, but spent most of my life in the greater Hutt Valley.

A Diploma in Visual Communications Design was gained in 1979 through Wellington
Polytechnic (now known as Massey), and, though self-taught in Fine Arts, this Graphic
Design course opened my eyes to the greater Art scene.

Since then, my inspirations have come from my friends, surroundings, and past and present artists such as Mucha, Vallejo, Poortvliet, Mondrian, Sydney and Bellamy. During the day, I’m a Graphic Artist and create artwork for the day-to-day output of newspaper and magazine ads, posters, adshels, billboards, leaflets and various other items of print material.

As an aside from my graphic art, I paint. At Hutt Art, I convene a painters workshop on
Monday nights, where a group of like-minded artists get together and paint in various
media. Although this workshop is untutored, we help each other and we all critique each
other’s work. It’s a great environment for creating works of art and bouncing ideas off
each other. If you’re interested in joining Hutt Art, go to

A member of the Hutt Art Society, Watercolour NZ, and NZ Academy of Fine Arts, I have paintings in many private collections throughout New Zealand, as well as some in Australia and the US.
